Simon & Schuster (S&S) staff are heading deep into the arctic circle next month in a bid to raise £16,000 for the National Literacy Trust.
The team of eight includes people from across sales, marketing, finance, editorial and design will undertake a four-day endurance expedition in northern Sweden, inside the Arctic Circle.
Participants Kat Ailes, Lilli Bagnall, Loren Catana, Rachel Cavet, Daniel Fricker, Nicholas Hayne, Lydia McCallum and Hannah Taylor will sleep in a “basic” camp with no electricity.
The team will undergo various endurance challenges, including a 35km dog sledding time trial; a 20km cross-country skiing race; and an orienteering challenge finishing on a frozen lake.
Experiencing sub-zero temperatures and a maximum of five hours daylight a day, the S&S staffers will also need to make a hole in a frozen lake to catch fish for dinner.
