Paradigm Publishing Services is expanding its offering to include database development, hosting and distribution, with the first project under the new initiative to be the Collected Works of Albert Einstein in partnership with Princeton University Press.
The expanded offering aims to provide academic and independent publishers with additional options to deliver primary-source material to scholars. Development on the work on the Einstein database has begun with an aim to complete it in 2026. It will eventually include over 30 volumes of Einstein’s writing and correspondence curated by the editors at the Einstein Papers Project at the California Institute of Technology, and additional scholarship published by Princeton University Press.
Steve Fallon, managing director of Paradigm Publishing Services, said: “We are excited to not only announce this new service, but also to do so in partnership with Princeton University Press.
“Through our parent company De Gruyter Brill, we’ve built a strong foundation in developing databases from rich primary source archives, and we’re now drawing on that experience and resource to support our partner presses.”
The Einstein database presents “the first complete picture of the massive written legacy capturing the full range of Einstein’s work, from his discovery of the theories of relativity and the origins of quantum theory, to his active involvement with international cooperation, human rights, education and disarmament.”
Eric Crahan, editorial director at Princeton University Press, added: “We are thrilled to partner with Paradigm, whose expertise will help us create a modern, accessible database that will introduce Einstein’s world-changing work to a new generation of researchers, scholars and general users. This would not be possible without the collaboration of many institutions and individuals, and I’m grateful for all of their efforts.”
