The Bright Agency has hired Márcia Sousa as an agent in its Children’s Illustration division.
Sousa joins from the Little Tiger Group, where she was the foreign rights executive, having previously also worked at Hodder.
In her new role, she joins the head of Bright Children’s Illustration Robyn Newton alongside agents Anna Zieger and Georgia Tournay-Godfrey as Bright “continues to expand its illustration commissions through mainland Europe, Asia and South America”.
The agency says the expansion of the Bright Children’s Illustration team is “an indicator of the agency’s continued success, especially in international markets, and its drive to ensure our artists have global representation”.
Vicki Willden-Lebrecht, founder and chief executive officer, said: “The Bright Agency is committed to maximising our authors’ and illustrators’ rights and ensuring their work reaches global audiences without language barriers. With a vast network, we secure meaningful international deals for our artists.”
Newton added: “I am thrilled to have Márcia join the Children’s team here at Bright. Joining with previous experience from foreign rights positions at Little Tiger Press, Arcturus and Hodder, she brings with her substantial knowledge of the European, Asian and South American markets, which is such an asset to the team and to our creatives.
“As a native Portuguese speaker, Márcia will be exploring even more opportunities for our artists in those regions and beyond, as well as solidifying new relationships with our established global clients.”
Sousa began working at Bright in February 2025 and can be contacted at [email protected].
