HarperCollins UK has donated more than 20,000 books to eight charities and 15 hospitals and hospices across England and Scotland for Christmas. Each donation included a range of books for children of all ages, from newborns to young adults.

The books cover a variety of genres including picture books, fiction and non-fiction from across HarperCollins’ children’s divisions.

HarperCollins explained “each donation is curated to provide children, families and parents with a moment of joy and warmth during the holiday season”.

Emma Lowe, head of events at HarperCollins UK, said: “We are delighted to be able to support these important charities, hospitals and hospices this holiday season. It is our hope that our donations will make a difference in the lives of those who need them in our local communities.”

Mairiona McInally-Kier, chief ambassador Scotland at the charity KidsOut, said: “On behalf of all the volunteers here at KidsOut in Glasgow (AKA the Elves) and on behalf of the thousands of children we help, we are so thankful for the donation made by HarperCollins. These books are currently being packed into bespoke gift bags and distributed to disadvantaged children. We hope these books will help unlock dreams or maybe just offer a still moment of quiet enjoyment at this busy time of year.”
