Hong Kong University Press (HKUP) has signed a partnership with The Oxford Publicity Partnership (OPP) to sell HKUP print books to customers in the UK and Europe.
Since its establishment in 1956, HKUP has grown from a publisher of only a few titles from the university’s faculty to one that releases up to 50 new books a year.
The partnership will make the HKUP backlist of around 1,000 books and all future releases available in the UK and Europe.
Michael Duckworth, publisher of HKUP, said: “We are very happy to join the OPP team and its dynamic network of promotion and discoverability in the UK and Europe. As we grow our list and disciplinary range in English and in Chinese publishing, we are eager to learn from OPP to grow many vital sales channels, connect with more European readers, and also navigate new market challenges in the continuously robust trade of ideas and books between Europe and Asia.”
Gary Hall, managing director of OPP, said: “The Oxford Publicity Partnership is honoured to partner with the team at HKUP to ensure its authors, editors and readers benefit from representation to the UK and European academic communities and associated retail, wholesale and online bookselling markets.
“Oxford Publicity Partnership, together with European sales operation, Durnell Marketing Ltd, look to grow sales and brand awareness for HKUP.
Hall added: “Both OPP and Durnell Marketing work closely with HKUP’s longstanding distributor for our region, Ingram Publisher Services UK. Together we will bring our many years of experience selling, marketing and promoting trade and academic books to the HKUP publishing programme.”
