Family & Other Calamities by Leslie Gray Streeter
If the space race isn’t your thing, Family & Other Calamities (June 1) could be your book of the season. Novelist Leslie Gray Streeter delivers all the feels as veteran journalist Dawn Roberts returns her husband’s ashes to his grieving family. Once there, Dawn is shocked to discover that a story stolen from her years earlier is now being made into a movie. To make matters worse, in this altered version of her tale, she’s the villain. Talk about trauma drama! But in her trademark fashion, Streeter adds just the right balance of comedy to round it all out with style.
Charity Trickett Is Not So Glamorous by Christine Stringer
Calling all Hollywood fans! Bridget Jones’ Diary meets The Studio in Charity Trickett Is Not So Glamorous by Christine Stringer (June 10). And it’s based on a true story. You’ll love going behind the scenes as Charity tries to become a screenwriter and producer in this glamorous yet cutthroat industry. Add duplicitous coworkers, mounting financial pressure, an ill-fated love and an FBI investigation, and you’ve got a refreshingly funny beach read with all the right plot points.
Such Good People by Amy Blumenfeld
If you’re looking for something a little deeper, Amy Blumenfeld’s Such Good People (July 8) will not disappoint. During her freshman year of college, April’s friend Rudy takes the fall for her and is incarcerated. Fifteen years later, April is a mother of three with a fulfilling career and a happy marriage to a successful attorney, while Rudy remains locked behind bars.
